This list is a compilation of activities that fall into the psycho-social support sector, showing the type of support, location, and partners.
AidLebanon:
Location: South Lebanon, selected villages
Project: Working with Norwegian People's Aid and INTERSOS on possibility of psycho social intervention in South Lebanon
EMDH:
Location: South Lebanon, Tibnine and 16 surounding villages
Project: Psycho social care for children affected by war trauma, in accordance with the Higher Council of Childhood policies.
Partners: Alpha and MoSA Social development centers.
Handicap International/MADA Project:
Location: Beirut Southern Suburbs
Project: After the completion of the reformulation of interventions after the cease fire phase, the project will begin implementation at the start of the school year, with a pilot project in Al-Hadi School, Southern Suburb of Beirut. The activities will include: speak up groups for teachers, followed by speak-up groups for parents, then therapeutic activities children at the beginning of the school year. The project will be extended to the Mabarrat Schools, Al-Mahdi Schools, and women's organizations in the Southern Suburbs (pending negotiations). This is in addition to sharing Samidoun premises in Dahyeh with the idea of running activities in the project complementary to theirs.
Phase 2: South Lebanon.
Imam Sadr Cultural Foundations:
Location: South Lebanon, Tyr region
Project: Daytime activity for social workers and around 100 children under 13, under supervision of educational/social specialists. The project uses training through action, aims to raise the capacity of social workers, and their level of efficiency. The activity will last for 15 days and will aim to encourage children to participate in entertainment activities to break the negative impact of the war, allow them to express their feelings, and create new friendships.
Islam Online:
Location: General
Project: Offering training on psycho-social care.
Islamic Health Society:
Location: Southern Suburbs, Hay El-Sellom/Ghadir
Project: Conducted training with Islam Online for psychological intervention with traumatized children. Currently in partnership with Handicap International as an interlocutor with local civil society organizations working on psychological effects of the war. Additionally, the IHS s is planning a study, in coordination with the AUB on urban health.
Mercy – Malaysia:
Location: General
Project: Investigating a long-term, 3 year, program of training and direct support and training for local human resources in case of similar aggression
Mouvement Social:
Location: South Lebanon, Srifa and surroundings
Project: The project includes psycho-social support for children and rehabilitiation of educational facilities in Srifa. MS already completed a youth camp in Srifa and will extend activities to Saida and Nabatieh.
MPDL:
Location: South Lebanon, Nabatieh and 15 surrounding villages Project: 1 year project of psychosocial care with a referral system; Local partner: NABAA, Beit Al Talaba
RESTART:
Location: North Lebanon, Tripoli, Akkar (areas affected by bombing)
Project: RESTART center is collaboration on a number of joint efforts to work on psycho-social support for affected children, especially through the Higher Council for Childhood and the WHO. Another program is being developed in South Lebanon in collaboration with the Khiam Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture (KRC), through the IRCT.
Saint Joseph University:
Location: General
Project: Offering training on psycho-social care in partnership with UNICEF.
SAMIDOUN:
Location: Beirut Southern Suburbs, with focus on Bourj Al-Barajneh, Haret Horeik, and Ghobeiri municipalities.
Project: Samidoun is working on the Synthesis of a psycho-social intervention structure in the Southern Suburbs that includes a community center (child-friendly) and speak-up groups for adults. Activities are being currently conducted in the Baajour Playgrounds in Bourj Al-Barajneh and include: drawing, painting, and crafts; story-telling; singing; theater performances, drama games, and puppet shows; volunteers capacity building; coordination and networking activities; and several other educational activities.
Partners: Lebanese Red Cross, Jana Cultural Center, Beirut D.C., MoSA, Higher Council for Childhood, UNICEF, ASSABIL Libraries, the Lebanese University social workers, and Handicap International/MADA.
Location: South Lebanon, Aita Chaab
Project: The Samidoun Aita Chaab Community Center is documenting the effect of the war on the children of the region.
SAWA:
Location: Bekaa, Hermel – 11 villages
Project: Through the Educational Research Centers in the region, SAWA is conducting meetings with children to study effect of war and creating safe spaces for children.
Terre des Hommes:
Location: South Lebanon, 22 villages (Sour/Tyr: El Kleile, Chaaitiye, Siddiqine, Jibal Al Butm, Zibkine, Al Hinnyah, Al Mansuri, Majda Zun, Marwahin, Al Naqura, Sammaaye, Deir Qanoun, Maaliye, Deir Qanoun En Nahr, Jannata, Maarub. Bent Jbail: Ayta Achaab, Aynata, Aytarun. Marjayoun: Qabrikha, Markaba, Houla.)
Project: Planning a 6-month program with tentative start date at the end of September 2006. The program will include 5 mobile psycho-social intervention units, and 10 safe spaces for children

Welfare Association:
Investigating the possibility for setting up psycho-social activities targeting Palestinian population affected by war in southern Lebanon camps and gatherings
RC:
Recreational and psych-social activities in the area of Deir Kanoun El Nahr and the 7 surrounding villages and Marjeyoun area

ICRC:
Training directed towards LRC volunteers on dealing with trauma.
Community training for youth groups in Bekaa, Marjyoun, Nabatieh, and southern suburb.
