Dear friends and colleagues,

Lebanon Support cordially invites you to the launch of the 3rd issue of the Civil Society Review and its editorial board:

Social Science for Change

Just in time for the start of a new year, Lebanon Support is happy to bring around researchers, academics, practitioners, experts, and policy-makers to discuss knowledge production in the region.

During this event, we will launch the third issue of the Civil Society Review*, our peer-reviewed journal, as well as introduce its editorial board.  This issue offers insights into the transformation of the “associative sector” in Lebanon and Palestine, a sector generally seen to be at the core of an increasingly active civil society.

The event will also feature a round table discussion on knowledge production, and the importance of the availability of scientific publications in the region.

Names of speakers:

  • Dr. Seteney Shami (Director, Arab Council for Social Sciences)

  • Dr. Maissam Nimer (Istanbul Policy Center, Sabanci University; member of the editorial board of the Civil Society Review)

  • Ms. Randa Baas (independent translator, Syria)

  • Dr. Marie-Noëlle AbiYaghi (Director, Lebanon Support; member of the editorial board of the Civil Society Review)

Agenda:

  • 6:00-6:10pm: Welcome note, by Léa Yammine, Director of Publications, Lebanon Support
  • 6:10-6:40pm: Round table discussion
  • 6:40-7:10pm: Open discussion and interventions
  • 7:10-8:00pm: Reception and networking

Date and time: Thursday 24 January 2019, from 6pm to 8:00pm.
